Wifredo Lam

Wifredo Lam (1902-1982) was an internationally renowned Cuban painter of Chinese and African origin whose work is influenced by various artistic movements. As a modernist and a symbolist, he was strongly influenced by African culture. Wifredo Lam plays on the repetition of motifs to make the viewer slip into the dimension of the unconscious and the marvelous, which for him is the form of freedom to be achieved.
